Stay Motivated and You will Lose Weight

Motivation is one of the most important aspects of weight loss, and maintaining a healthy weight after weight loss. Unfortunately, whether it is society, our inner evil, or a combination of both, motivation is hard to come by – especially when it has to do with our weight. We, by nature, are professionals at criticizing every little flaw that our bodies have, tearing down any bit of self-esteem that you might have left.

Surprisingly, your mental health and confidence can actually help you lose weight and maintain your overall healthiness. Feeling good about yourself is easier said than done, so here are some tips to help motivate you through the rough times in life.

First off, regardless of how many times you have tried and failed – in the past – to lose weight, do NOT beat yourself up for it. Everyone who has truly tried to lose weight has failed at least one time in their life – if anyone tells you differently they are lying. Losing weight, and keeping it off, is a lifestyle change; you’re going to experience failures and setbacks.

Secondly, track your progress and do not let it get to you. You need to set goals and the only way to attain them is to know where you started and where you are currently at. Set it in your mind that this is a long process – do NOT expect immediate results – it will NOT happen.

After you have attainable goals, reward yourself when you reach them. Allow yourself to have a treat, go see a movie, do something that makes you feel special about yourself and that you do not normally get to do. This is crucial to success, you need to remind yourself that you deserve the best and the only way to do this is to reward yourself when you do well.

Finally, losing weight and keeping it off is not about being skinny – it is about being fit and healthy. Everybody has a different healthy level, and surprisingly, many are not skinny when they are at their healthiest. Focus on your body and what it needs to function properly and what will extend its life.

As cliché as it may sound, you are a unique person and deserve the best. Whether you have to lose 20 pounds or 100, you are still beautiful – or handsome. You deserve to be healthy and live a long life filled with adventure and surprise. The only way to do this is to feel good about yourself and live life to the fullest, stop beating yourself up – you are worth it!
