Proper Exercise… It Is Not Just for Weight Loss Anymore

What could possibly be good about exercise and becoming a more active person? Like healthy eating, if you keep up with your exercise program, you will find it not only becomes easier but you will actually have times when you look forward to it.

As you exercise over time you will start to appreciate your body a bit more. It doesn’t take very long to see improvements in strength, endurance and energy levels. As you feel that strength growing, you may get excited about your workouts…wondering how much you will lift next time or how fast you will walk or run.

You will notice and appreciate everything in your everyday life will get a little easier. Carrying groceries, taking care of kids, doing household chores, going up and down stairs…many daily activities will get easier.

Your confidence levels will grow as small but consistent changes start to happen, clothes fit better, increased energy levels, sleeping better, feeling less stressed, greater self esteem, feeling happier and getting closer to being the sort of person you want to be.

Life is full of surprises…not all of them good and can often cause stress, anxiety and a bad case of the blues. Even the holidays can be a challenge, bringing out our best and, sometimes, our worst emotions. Then there are the unexpected surprises – losing a job, moving to a new city, contracting an illness and other events that test our mental strength.

Unfortunately, we can’t predict the future, but we can find ways to relieve stress in healthy ways. One of the best ways to work out the stress and pull yourself out of the dumps is to move your body and focus on your exercise program

It’s important to take care of yourself when you’re feeling blue rather than reach for the chocolate when you are stressed, think of your exercise regime as a healing mechanism for whatever life throws at you. As your body gets into its own rhythms with activity you can let your mind go, work out problems and find solutions as well as letting the movement soothe and calm you.

The more you work your body, the more your body can do and the more benefits you will receive. Also following through with your exercise goals lets you know you can trust yourself. That self trust is a key ingredient to a healthy life.
