Build a Positive Attitude Towards Fitness and Weight Loss

Most people know that fitness is very important to their health yet many people choose to lead their life without it. Even more find it difficult to start an exercise program or stick with it. Physical activity and exercise have been proven to help you feel better and live a longer healthier life. Stop your mind when it tries inventing reasons (excuses) on why you can’t get going.

If you are not very active or not exercising regularly, perhaps you have some negative thoughts of your own. Isn’t it time to start building more positive thoughts?

“I don’t have time.” It will only take 1/48th of your whole day to exercise for 30 minutes – and most people waste a lot more time than that on unproductive activities like watching TV! Being physically active is more important for your health and well-being than most of the other things you think must get done each day. You will need to make this a priority in your life if you’re going to reach your fitness and weight loss goals. The key is giving it the priority that it deserves.

Fitness and weight loss goals need planning just like you would plan for success in your career. Don’t allow yourself to sit around and say you have no time. You can always get up an hour early or go to bed an hour later.

“I know I should exercise but I hate it so I just can’t seem to make myself do it.” Many people have negative feelings about exercise, as can be heard by the use of words like “should,” “hate” and “make myself.” These thoughts and feelings come from negative past experiences such as school sports, boring exercise routines, and discomfort or pain from doing too much too fast. Some people only exercise when they are trying to lose weight so they have come to think of exercise as a punishment for their overeating.

It doesn’t have to be like this – you can start slowly and allow your body to adjust gradually so it is not uncomfortable. You can also choose to focus on all the great things it does for you and how wonderful you feel instead of negative things like how much weight you should lose.

Repeat affirmations like “I can feel myself becoming stronger, healthier and more energetic”, “It feels so good to move my muscles!” and “I can do it!” Start thinking of yourself as an active, slim and healthy person – and you will become one!
