Increasing fitness and losing some weight promotes self-discipline and has a positive impact how you perceive yourself and your life. Exercise helps in lifting your spirits and chasing away any sad or depressing thoughts that most people sometimes get.

For first timers, even 15 minutes 2-3 times a week will have a big impact on your life. You can slowly increase the time you spend once your body (and mind) gets used to it.
Here are some moderate exercises you can do and enjoy:

1. Do some walking. Make use of the surroundings close to your home and walk with your dog, your partner or a child. If you encourage your family to come with you, you will be spending some quality time with them as well as improving your fitness.

2. Discover the energizing benefits of Yoga. You could learn the basic yoga positions that are not too complicated but can recharge you with energy and relax you at the same time.

3. You could participate in a sporting type activity such as golf, tennis or badminton. Or join a walking or hiking group. All of these activities can be done in moderation and will add to your fitness level, help you lose weight and let you have some fun as well.

4. Join or start an exercise program at your work. You could get a few people together even in the lunch hour and go for a walk or do some simple exercises together. This is a good way to bond with people and you will be supporting each other as you work towards your fitness and weight loss goals.

5. Look at your household chores as good exercise. Gardening, raking leaves, lawn mowing, doing the laundry, vacuuming and car washing are effective moderate exercises that will help you stay active and healthy.
